DUCOING WATTY, Patricia. Rébsamen: some conceptual contributions to the educational modernization project in Mexico. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.140, pp.149-168. ISSN 0185-2698.
The educational work during Porfirio Diaz's government is a real watershed for the history of education in Mexico, not only because of the degree of coverage, but most of all because of the conceptual construction that was carried out by contemporary experts and theoreticians within the framework of the so-called modern Pedagogy. This Pedagogy can be understood as the transition process from the current teaching practices and the new ones, called "modern", based on new conceptualizations. In this new context, Enrique Rébsamen had a prevailing role, since his pedagogical formulations, together with other educators', contribute to a significant change within the prevailing educational discourse about education and primary teaching. This article attempts to review his main contributions, that not only helped to shape and enrich the educational knowledge of his time, but also to transform the teacher's duty.
