This article presents the partial results of a research that tackles the ethnical appropriation processes of school in ethnogenesis contexts based on an ethnographic case study carried out in a high school of a mixe (ayuujk) community of the Oaxaca state Mexico, from the school experiences of young people who obtained their certificate. Starting from the concept of controversial interculturality, the study analyzes some of the pedagogical and political dimensions that underlie that kind of school projects, within the framework of political ethnicity and the distinguishing appropriation that those young mixes obtain from their time at school.
