LOPEZ HERNAEZ, Lara y RAMIREZ GARCIA, Antonia. Disciplinary measures in educational centers: Is enough being done to counteract bullying?. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.145, pp.32-50. ISSN 0185-2698.
There is concern in educational centers regarding coexistence, discipline and bullying. This paper presents a study -carried out in the autonomous community of La Rioja- on the link between the above topics. The data was acquired through a questionnaire administered to 348 students in secondary schools; semi-structured interviews with 30 educational professionals, along with four focus groups whose participants were students and their family members. The results show a low percentage of bullying among students from La Rioja along with the use of disciplinary measures to address any problems of coexistence, despite the teaching staff giving priority to dialogue and interpersonal relationships. Finally, an alternative is proposed by way of the implementation of classroom methodologies based on cooperative learning, the incorporation of social-skills programs, mediation and conflict resolution.
