Resumen

CHAPARRO CASO-LOPEZ, Alicia A.; CASO NIEBLA, Joaquín; FIERRO EVANS, Ma. Cecilia  y  DIAZ LOPEZ, Carlos. Development of an evaluation instrument based on indicators of democratic, inclusive and peaceful school conviviality. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.149, pp.20-41. ISSN 0185-2698.

The aim of the present study is to design and validate an instrument with which to measure school conviviality among junior high school students within the Mexican context. This instrument was based on the development of a set of indicators of democratic, inclusive and peaceful conviviality. 1,254 students from Baja California State, Mexico, participated, answering an initial bank of 183 items. The items were analyzed independently for each one of these dimensions. Unidimensionality (Rasch-Masters), exploratory factor (varimax rotation of the main components) and internal consistency were analyzed. Results showed interpretable factorial structures with appropriate metric properties. Upon analyzing the factors resulting from each dimension, congruency with the constructs operational definition was observed. Based on contents of the dimensions and their metric properties, it was concluded that the designed instrument can be stated to be valid for an evaluation of conviviality in schools.
