The debate on the entrepreneuralization of universities must be understood taking three axes, submitted to the control and appropriation of knowledge, into consideration: identity of the university either as a social institution or a trade organization; definition of the nature of the functions of the university as generator of public goods or services susceptible to private appropriation; ways of organization of the university either as a community of knowledge or as a bureaucratic organization. This triple dispute derives on the reinvention of university identity within the social imagination and the transformation of academic communities supporting their existence.
