Resumen

CHAVEZ ARELLANO, María Eugenia. Ser indígena en la educación superior ¿desventajas reales o asignadas?. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2008, vol.37, n.148, pp.31-55. ISSN 0185-2760.

This work wants to analyze some of the personal problems that the indigenous students from the Autonomous University Chapingo face, as well as the way in which they solve them during their stay in this institution, a higher education school where diverse areas of agronomy are studied. Though the ethnic origin is not a condition of school failure, such students confront adverse conditions as loneliness or discrimination. Conditions that force them to put into practice a series of tactics and strategies that will allow them to finish successfully their studies as well as to claim proudly their ethnic origin.

Palabras llave : indigenous students; higher education; ethnic identity.
