Answers from a set of questions about institutional management are analyzed, they were part of The Reconfiguration of the Academic Profession in Mexico survey, taken in 2007-2008. The study presents a comparison between the perspective of technological public institutions professors and of public state universities, relative to the communication, collegiality and administrative practices. The results show that the academicians of the first institutions perceived, with regard to the academicians of the seconds, the most complicated administrative processes, minor communication and a deficient participation on decisions making are discussed in the light of the federal policies and organizations concepts.
