Resumen

SOARES, Lucas. Critique and platonic use of the sophistical exegesis applied to traditional myths and poems. Nova tellus [online]. 2011, vol.29, n.1, pp.21-39. ISSN 0185-3058.

In this paper I will analyze the contrast that can be established between the negative view assumed by Plato in Protagoras and Phaedrus for sophistical exegesis applied to traditional myths and poems, and the positive view that Plato puts into practice in Republic I to discuss a traditional concept of justice related to the poetry of Simonides. Secondly, I will try to explain this discrepancy through a consideration of the conflicting views by which Plato focuses on traditional poetry in Protagoras, Phaedrus and Republic; perspectives that, far from a single conception, reveal different assessments of traditional poetry.

Palabras llave : Exegesis; poetry; sophistry; traditional myth.
