Resumen

TREVIZAM, Matheus. Expressive Variety in Roman Agrarian Literature: Anatomical Descriptions and Veterinary Precepts in Virgil’s Georgics Book III and Lucius Junius Moderatus Columella’s De re rustica Book VI. Nova tellus [online]. 2018, vol.36, n.1, pp.75-100. ISSN 0185-3058.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.nt.2018.36.1.785.

In this paper we intend to compare the paths followed by Columella and Virgil when writing their anatomical descriptions of animals and some veterinary prescriptions in specific excerpts of De re rustica, VI and Georgics, III. Thus, while the first author, who composes within the tradition of the ancient prose treatises, gives more relevance to information, Virgil chooses to deal with the same textual processes mainly from the elaboration of their expressivity.
