Resumen

HERNANDEZ QUIROZ, Anselmo. The Nature and the Sacred Names’ Formation in the Ṛg Veda: Some Notes upon the Traditional Ecological Lore from Ancient India in Retrospective. Nova tellus [online]. 2023, vol.41, n.2, pp.117-142.  Epub 02-Oct-2023. ISSN 0185-3058.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.nt.2023.2.41.2/00x38s005.

I inquire into one aspect of the symbolic images’ evolution in the Ancient Indian tradition by studying sacred names referring to natural objects and phenomena in the Ṛg Veda and other Sanskrit texts. The research is supported by theories and methods of Hermeneutics, Linguistics and Indian studies. The relevance is that by investigating an aspect of the kosmos-corpus-praxis complex of the Ancient Indian tradition centered on Nature and the naming of the gods, one can understand the way in which some beliefs, knowledge and practices were articulated and developed during the process of Indian people’s appropriation of the Natural world, thereby promoting a dialogue between traditional lore and modern knowledge.
