PEDROZA CABRERA, Francisco Javier; CERVANTES HERRERA, Ana del Refugio; AGUILERA RUBALCAVA, San Juana  y  MARTINEZ MARTINEZ, Kalina Isela. Social Interactions Between Adolescent Consumers and Non Consumers of Addictive Substances. Rev. mex. anál. conducta [online]. 2012, vol.38, n.2, pp.126-150. ISSN 0185-4534.

During adolescence, coercive interactions between teenagers and their parents constitute a risk factor for the occurrence of problem behavior. Conflictive social interactions, the absence of negotiation responses and the lack of control over adolescents' behavior by parents have been associated with substance consumption. Problematic peers may encourage the occurrence of risky behavior associated with drug use. The social interactions of 26 teenagers with their parents and their peers were analyzed in this study. The level of drug consumption differed among the teenagers. These social interactions were observed in two contexts: high probability of coercion and low probability of coercion. Social interactions characterized by conflict were found among teenagers and their parents and peers in both observation contexts. The rate of coercive interactions was highest for the teenagers who used drugs. For these participants, a decrease of negotiation responses to conflict situations and increases of social interactions characterized by conflict and drug consumption were observed.

Palabras llave : social interaction; drug consumption; adolescence; conflict management.
