Resumen

ROJAS, Beatriz. Territory and Identity: Zacatecas 1786-1835. Secuencia [online]. 2007, n.67, pp.45-65. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i67.933.

This article studies the way in which, from 1786 onwards, the Novo-Hispanic provinces were given a status based on various elements. This meant that during the constitution of the Mexican nations, the demand for federalism emerged as something that was quite natural. It is worth noting the key role played in this definition by the most important cities in the vice-royalty. In order to support this proposal, the author focuses particularly on the province of Zacatecas, an exemplary case, since during the first half of the 19th century, it was the bulwark of Mexican federalism.
