Resumen

DENIS, Watson R.. Origins and Manifestations of Haitian Francophilia: Nationalism and Foreign Policy in Haiti (1980-1915). Secuencia [online]. 2007, n.67, pp.93-139. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i67.995.

This study is based on late 19th and early 20th century historiography. One of the attractions of this arricie is that it shows that the political break with France after the Haitian revolution did not involve a cultural and ideológical break. Within a short period of time, the new élite in Haitian power became Francophile. The article studies the origins and most obvious manifestations of Haitian francophilia. The author reaches the conclusión that Haitian francophilia was a means of establishing a strategic link between Haiti and France. In this respect, francophilia was one of the bases of the Haitian state's foreign policy and an expression of its nationalism.
