AGUDO SANCHIZ, Alejandro. Legados históricos en movimiento. Colonización agraria indígena y conflicto en Tila, zona norte de Chiapas. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2007, vol.22, n.63, pp.51-83. ISSN 2007-8358.
Between 1995 and 2002, the government, supported by the paramilitary organization Peace and Justice, waged a violent campaign to stop the spread of Zapatismo in the Chol area of Chiapas. The conflicts rose out of old antagonisms and inequalities between the Zapatistas and Peace and Justice. Considered the general headquarters of the paramilitary group, El Limar was the scene of political mobilizations that culminated in a significant victory for the Zapatistas. This apparent enigma is resolved by examining the interaction of the local history of conflicts and larger forces like social movements and government policies.
