Resumen

ARANEDA, Felipe. The Changing Nature of Money: On the "Diversification" and "Homogenization" Processes of the Monetary Support. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.78, pp.213-240. ISSN 2007-8358.

The most important concerns in the sociology of money consist of deciphering the causes of two simultaneous and apparently opposite phenomena: homogenization, represented by the large-scale circulation of currencies that tend to go beyond the borders of issuing nation-states, replacing small-scale currencies; and diversification, which involves how, on a local level, money tends to diversify into new kinds of complementary currencies. The two phenomena are "two sides of the same coin," and a detailed study of money will allow us to account for societies in contemporary globalization.

Palabras llave : money; homogenization; diversification; complementary currencies; principle of certainty; support; monetary practices.
