Resumen
AVILA, Francisco et al. Puebla Corn Producers and the Liberation of Genetically Modified Corn. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2014, vol.29, n.82, pp.45-81. ISSN 2007-8358.
Cultivating maize is fundamental for Puebla producers because it is part of their economy, social relations, and culture. Internationally, over the last two decades, we have seen a new proposal for technological innovation emerge: genetically-modified crops, whose effects cannot be known a priori since research into their potential impact has not yet concluded. This article presents the results of field research in the state of Puebla, pointing to production costs for native and hybrid maize, its importance for producers, and the existing perception about the possible liberation of transgenic corn in the country.
