FUERTE CELIS, María del Pilar; PEREZ LUJAN, Enrique  y  ANGELES GARCIA, Ariana. The Forgotten Ones. Women Displaced in Durango, the Other Victims of “the War on Drugs”. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2020, vol.35, n.99, pp.131-165.  Epub 09-Mar-2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

Wars are often evaluated in terms of the number of dead, mostly male. But, a large number of women also suffer many forms of violence; perhaps one of the worst is being displaced as the result of their husbands, fathers, or brothers being murdered by organized crime groups. This article seeks to make visible the violence exercised against women who were forcibly displaced from 2006 to 2012 due to the so-called “war against drugs.” The authors used in-depth interviews to gather their stories and linked up the macro- and micro-transformations to underline the deterioration of their daily lives due to the toughening of the anti-drug policies and the later reconfiguration of the criminal organizations.

Palabras llave : women; fight against drug trafficking; violence; displaced persons; Durango.
