Resumen

BLOIS, Juan Pedro. Social Scientists’ Work in Market Studies in Argentina. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2020, vol.35, n.100, pp.103-135.  Epub 09-Mar-2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

Market research is one of the main areas where social scientists can exercise their profession in Argentina. Even so, and despite its importance, this activity has not awakened systematic interest among those who study social sciences in this country. Inspired by the developments of the sociology of professions and based on a variety of empirical corpus, this article aims to examine the work of market research, with special attention to the uses of the social sciences and their role as agents who mediate and connect academic production with the world of business. In doing so, the author seeks to go beyond a view that limits the study of the social sciences solely to the academic disciplines, or, in the case of psychology, to its practice in the area of mental health.
