Resumen

PRECIADO RANGEL, Pablo et al. Effect of Ammonium and Phosphate on the Growth of Jalapeño Pepper Seedlings. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2008, vol.26, n.1, pp.37-42. ISSN 2395-8030.

An experiment was carried out to evaluate the effect of NH4+ and H2PO4- concentrations in nutrient solution on the growth and nutrient uptake of jalapeño seedlings (Capsicum annuum L.) cv. Jalapeño M. The experiment was established with a completely randomized design where the treatments were arranged in a 32 factorial distribution to evaluate three doses of NH4+ and H2PO4- as well as the regional recommendation as a control treatment. The measured variables were shoot dry weight (PSV), root dry weight (PSR), number of leaves (NH), leaf area (AF), chlorophyll readings, shoot height (AP), stem diameter (DT) and N, P, K, Ca and Mg uptake. Concentrations of 1.5 mmol L–1 of NH4 produced the highest values of PSR, AF, CCL, AP, DT and N, Ca and Mg uptake. Concentrations of 1 mmol L 1 of H2PO4- affected PSV and N, K and Ca uptake. Interaction was found between NH4+ and H2PO4- for PSV, SPAD readings and P. Mean values of DT and NH for the factorial treatments were higher than those of the control.

Palabras llave : Capsicum annuum; nitrogen; phosphorus.
