Resumen

SALAS-PEREZ, Lilia et al. Yield and quality of hydroponic forage produced under organic fertilization. Terra Latinoam [online]. 2010, vol.28, n.4, pp.355-360. ISSN 2395-8030.

The objective of this study was to determine the effect of fertilization type (FT), genotype (G), and harvest day (HD) on yield and nutritional quality of hydroponic green forage (HGF). Three TF were evaluated: organic (compost tea), chemical (nutrient solution), and unfertilized (tap water), in two corn genotypes (hybrid and native) and harvest on three different dates (12, 14 and 16 days after sowing). These factors formed a 3 x 2 x 3 factorial arrangement in a completely randomized design with six replicates. The response variables were: fresh weight (FW), dry matter (DM) and protein content (PC), acid (ADF) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) and fat. The results showed that the quality of HGF produced in the experiment is within the recommended values for use in animal feed. The factors evaluated had significant effect: FT and HD affected all variables, HD affected genotype. Also the HGF fertilized with compost tea was similar in yield and nutritional quality except for ADF compared to that fertilized with chemical fertilizers. On the day 16 sampling date, HGF showed positive effects on yield, dry matter, ADF and NDF. The hybrid maize surpassed the native variety in all variables.

Palabras llave : hydroponic; forage; compost tea.
