Resumen
LOPEZ MENA, Sergio. Andrés Cavo Franco: Towards a humanist's biography. Lit. mex [online]. 2012, vol.23, n.1, pp.31-41. ISSN 2448-8216.
Jesuit Andrés Cavo (1739-1803) was part of the Mission of la Santísima Trinidad in Nayarit. In late 1767 he left into exile. He wrote a biography of José Julián Parreño, his mentor, partner and friend. Following Parreño, he quit the Jesuit Order in 1769. He failed in an attempt to gain a permission to go back to the New Spain. He wrote Mexici historia in Rome, a work he translated to Spanish himself, under the title of Historia civil y política de México. He didn't see it published, neither in the original language nor translated. The Spanish version has been edited by Carlos María de Bustamante (1836-1838) and Ernesto José Burrus (1949).
