MARTINEZ-DOMINGUEZ, Marlen. Adoption of Electronic Services in Mexico: the Case of E-banking, E-commerce and E-government. Econ: teor. práct [online]. 2021, n.55, pp.171-193. Epub 25-Oct-2021. ISSN 2448-7481. https://doi.org/10.24275/etypuam/ne/552021/martinez.
This study identifies the factors that determine the decision of individuals to use e-commerce, e-banking and e-government in Mexico. Data from the National Survey on Availability of Information Technologies in Households, ENDUTIH (Inegi, 2017) were used. The demand model is supported by the neoclassical theory of utility maximization, and the Heckman two-step method was applied. The results of the econometric estimations reflect that age, gender, education level and digital skills are essential to explain the use of the three services. This suggests implementation of public policies aimed at reducing the gaps between different socioeconomic groups in order to encourage the use of these services in cyberspace.
