VILLERS RUIZ, Lourdes; GARCIA DEL VALLE, Laura y LOPEZ BLANCO, Jorge. Evaluación de los bosques templados en México: una aplicación en el parque nacional Nevado de Toluca. Invest. Geog [online]. 1998, n.36, pp.7-19. ISSN 2448-7279.
Based on In a photonterpretation and fieldwork analysis a méthodologie procedure to characterize the temperate forests in Mexico is proposed The methodology was applied in the Nevado de Toluca National Park, Three forest communities were determined; a) Pinus hartwegii. b) Abies religiosa and ci mixed: Abies religiosa, Alnus jorullensis. P pseudostrobus and P. hartwegii. For each community three types of covering density were delineated. Remarkable differences between number of trees, height and cover, with regard to the different density types and the three forest types were found. From dominant species analysis, subdominants species and covering percentage of the fieldwork sampling sites suggested more richness in the Abies and mixed forests than in the Pmus forests. Several impact levels caused by human activities exist: logging (mainly in Abies forest), in Pinus forests deliberately fires for grass-induced. The presence of Lipmus montanus and Penstemon gentienoides can be used as disturbed indicators.
