Resumen

CAMPOS ARANDA, Daniel Francisco. Study of the annual maximum daily precipitation in the Hydrologic Region No. 10 (Sinaloa), with base in Euclidean Distances. Invest. Geog [online]. 2008, n.65, pp.56-67. ISSN 2448-7279.

Firstly the importance of pluviometric records as the base flood estimation design is pointed out, this when pluviografic and hydrometric information are not available. Next the study objectives are cited and the annual maximum daily rainfall information is described. This is utilized in 67 stations of the Hydrologic Region No. 10, whose record extension varied from 23 to 38 years. Then the Euclidean Distance formula is described in detail, and then applied with three attributes for partitioning the stations and with five attributes to define each region of influence integrated with ten pluviometric stations. The convenience of the three partitioning zones is verified through simple statistic test. Lastly, the conclusions of the study are formulated, which point out the utility and consistency of the Euclidean Distances method.

Palabras llave : Euclidean Distance; partitioning stations; region of influence; annual maximum daily precipitation; regional predictions.
