Resumen
BUCAY, Benito. Apuntes de historia de la química industrial en México. Rev. Soc. Quím. Méx [online]. 2001, vol.45, n.3, pp.136-142. ISSN 0583-7693.
The practice of industrial chemistry in Mexico stems directly from the significant development of the mining industry during the Spanish Colony. It took off during World War II and experienced its major expansion from 1960 through 1990. During the recent decade it has gone through a process of consolidation derived from the opening of the domestic market and the shift to exports. All of this has resulted in a reduction of the number of participants and facilities; only those with the proper size and up-to-date technology remain.
