Resumen

The use of antibiotics in patients operated on for acute appendicitis is a behavior in order to prevent the septic complications of appendicitis and within these the surgical site infection is the most common, for this reason, antibiotics are a priority measure in the postoperative of these patients. Despite the above, the use of antibiotics in appendectomized patients has changed since its introduction, which is why there are currently different studies evaluating the usefulness of these and their association with urinary tract infection, pneumonia, etc., which increases the morbidity of the patient and therefore his hospital stay. The purpose of the following review is to present the different results of such studies.
