After an analysis of the term resistance, the autor distinguishes this idea from other classic forms of change or mutation in politics -such as reaction, restoration, reformism, conservatism and, particularly, revolution. Subsequently, he contrasts the ideas of conservatism and social reformism. In the second part of the text, many arguments in favour of the right of resistance are reprised, ranging from the most important historical doctrines to the current opinions of constitutional courts and of Luigi Ferrajoli. Finally, the author offers certain arguments aimed at reconciling the right of resistance within contemporary constitutional democracies, when he characterizes it as a posible (fundamental) right alongside others.
