Resumen

CIARAMITARO, Fernando. A look at Dante’s Politics. The Universal Monarchy or Empire. Hist. graf [online]. 2024, n.63, pp.17-43.  Epub 21-Jun-2024. ISSN 1405-0927.  https://doi.org/10.48102/hyg.vi63.528.

Through a careful and personal reading of the Divine Comedy and the Monarchy of Dante, supported by a part of the extensive bibliography on the theme and other sources, I try to analyze the concept of the supreme command that developed the greatest poet between the 13th and 14th centuries. How does Dante’s political thΩought take shape? How is the conflict resolved between practical and theoretical politics? Dante deprecated the discords Italy was suffering and from these important considerations it is possible to redefine Dante’s political theory and attempt to give answers to these questioners.

Palabras llave : Dante; Dante’s Politics; Empire; Divine Comedy; Monarchy.
