MAURO, Sebastián. El espacio público y los significantes flotantes: Democracia y escenificación del antagonismo. Convergencia [online]. 2010, vol.17, n.54, pp.161-174. ISSN 2448-5799.
The theory developed by Ernesto Laclau around notions of hegemony, representation and antagonism has become an alternative for political thinking, beyond the Rationalist framework that informs the normative theories of democracy. Laclau's notions propose a perspective that does not dissolve political conflict in regulated negotiating interests under institutional mechanisms, but they present the everyday political practice as governed by the logic of sedimentation and reproduction. To overcome these difficulties, this article proposes to rethink two categories from other traditions (developed by Paul Ricoeur and Hannah Arendt): action and public sphere.
