Violence and exclusion are issues that go beyond aggression, conflict and poverty, in which social stigma and the distancing from the norm and the severance from the majority social group are made evident, in this case the Spanish prison population. The article discusses the basic foundations ofviolence, exclusion, Pedagogy-Social Education and Education for Peace, the last two as references and/or answers to the problems of the prison environment. It also deepens and studies the characteristics, factors and contexts of female and male inmates. Methods and theoretical - practical guidelines for intervention in the collective are as well proposed.
