IBARRA, Antonio. The domestic market in New Spain in the deluge: civil war, direct trade and spatial reorganization, 1813-1818. Am. Lat. Hist. Econ [online]. 2021, vol.28, n.2, e1275. Epub 06-Jul-2021. ISSN 2007-3496. https://doi.org/10.18232/alhe.1275.
This essay discusses the hypothesis of the disarticulation of the Novohispanic internal market as a result of the civil war between 1812-1819, showing that the movement of goods between the port complex of Tampico, Guadalajara and San Blas refutes the paralysis and shows a transversality in the novohispano territory. Data from the “averia” tax, collected by that consulate in its jurisdiction, are used and the relationship between that port, the vector cities of San Luis Potosí, Zacatecas, Aguascalientes and Guadalajara is established to understand the road network that linked the Atlantic with the Pacific.
