Resumen

VILLAGOMEZ-LOZA, Mario A.; BELLO-GONZALEZ, Miguel Á.  y  ISARAIN-CHAVEZ, Eloy. Pinus strobiformis Engelmann: A New location in Guanajuato, Mexico. Agrociencia [online]. 2014, vol.48, n.6, pp.615-625. ISSN 2521-9766.

As a result of a series of explorations in the municipality of San José Iturbide, Guanajuato, a population of Pinus strobiformis Engelmann was located which was identified through keys, description and checked against herbarium material. At present, the species is reported in the Mexican Official Standard NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2010 (Official Journal, 2010), within the Category of Risk Pr referring to species that could potentially be threatened by factors that adversely affect their viability. Thus, to incorporate P. strobiformis into the repository of biodiversity of Guanajuato state identification and location is supported, which when updated evidence the southernmost distribution of the previously known records. The presence of the species in the state of Guanajuato is confirmed, in addition to the existing records in the states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Durango, Jalisco, Nuevo León, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora and Zacatecas. Besides, the number of pine species recorded for the state of Guanajuato from 10 to 11 is amended. The origin of the species is related to the likely centers of diversity and evolution of pines recognized in the country and its analysis leads to believe that ancestors of the species are from the Rocky Mountains until their arrival at the center of diversity in Regions II and III and from there to the collecting site. The new locality is located at coordinates 20° 56' N and 100° 17' W.

Palabras llave : Pinus strobiformis; Mexican white pine; new record of location; San José Iturbide Guanajuato.
