Resumen

SAMPIETRO VATTUONE, María Marta  y  PENA MONNE, José Luis. Environmental changes an geoarchaeology in arid/semiarid environments: A methodological approach. Bol. Soc. Geol. Mex [online]. 2019, vol.71, n.2, pp.565-584.  Epub 30-Oct-2019. ISSN 1405-3322.  https://doi.org/10.18268/bsgm2019v71n2a19.

In the drylands, the geomorphological responses facing Holocene environmental changes left clear features on the sedimentary records. In several cases, these records involve archaeological features that could be analyzed from a geoarchaeological perspective in order to reconstruct the site context and the post-depositional evolutionary processes that could alter their original features. This paper analyzes the factors that trigger the environmental changes and geomorphological processes in slopes, fluvial terraces, alluvial fans and aeolized areas with study cases from Argentina and Spain. In addition, a methodological proposal is presented for which main steps are based on the preparation of geomorphological maps of archaeological areas, the description of transversal, stratigraphic, and longitudinal profiles, and the construction of evolutionary models for paleoenvironmental reconstruction, on which it is essential for regional and global correlation of the information.
