Research of an exploratory nature was used to determine if the Escuela Normal Superior de México (ENSM) and some secondary schools in the Federal District have implemented the changes proposed in the 1999 Plan of Studies -which includes a subject on providing educational attention to teenagers in situations of risk (ASIR). The course introduces normal school students to problems of indiscipline and/or violence. We present the results of some aspects of the research: the current situation of ENSM and of secondary education in general, the role of ASIR, and observation and practice in training teachers to deal with problems of indiscipline, violence and "situations of risk".
