RAMIREZ-CARDONA, Carmen Adriana; CALDERON-HERNANDEZ, Gregorio y CASTANO-DUQUE, Germán A.. Administrative Focuses Present in Educational Establishments: An Empirical Study in Columbian Institutions of Elementary and Secondary Education. RMIE [online]. 2015, vol.20, n.66, pp.911-940. ISSN 1405-6666.
This article, the result of research in Colombian educational establishments, seeks to identify managerial configurations implicit in the conception of educational quality, school organization, and individual roles, considering variables such as the size of the establishment and the directors' gender. We address administrative paradigms and their relationship with educational management; we contrast them through semi-structured interviews with 11 rectors and surveys of 279 teachers in 33 establishments. We processed the results in Atlas t and SPSS, respectively. In addition, we analyzed Institutional Educational Projects. The findings show that the predominant strategic focus emphasizes school leadership and favors the generation and appropriation of knowledge that can impact educational quality, much more than the classical focus of administration, which until recently was the only focus recognized in the school context of Latin America.
