Resumen

RUIZ MUNOZ, María Mercedes  y  ALVAREZ GIL, María Fernanda. Narratives Involving the Right to Higher Education in Migrant Contexts: A Case Study. RMIE [online]. 2022, vol.27, n.95, pp.1063-1084.  Epub 30-Ene-2023. ISSN 1405-6666.

Based on a case study, this article analyzes the issue of Mexican migrants' rights to higher education in the United States. In-depth interviews with a young Mexican woman who migrated to the United States as a child focused on the DACA program (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), which had allowed her to work and enroll in graduate school. During her school and life trajectory, her perseverance, family, student peers and translators, teachers, and tutors determined her educational achievement and entry into the U.S. labor market. The DACA program is viewed simply as a palliative measure that does not solve the underlying problems of migrants and their rights.
