TELLO-CAMPOS, Carlos Alberto y AGUILAR-MARTINEZ, Adrián Guillermo. Urban regeneration and quality of life in Montreal and Mexico cities' old core: a comparison. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2013, vol.13, n.41, pp.121-149. ISSN 2448-6183.
Understanding the ongoing urban regeneration (UR)-quality of life (QOL)-quality of place (QOP) process in two of the most important cities in North America as a means to rescue the old city center from social, economic and environmental decay, is an imperative prerequisite in any planning effort towards such a goal. To that end, this article presents the regeneration history (1970/1971-2000/2001) that has taken place on the study cases, to statistically analyze using a SPSS program, the output of two UR/QOL/QOP surveys conducted in the inner cities of Montreal (2006) and Mexico City (2005). The results confirm Montreal as the most consistently regenerated inner city that favors more the QOP attributes and Mexico to the contrary, as the inner city that supports more the QOL ones.
