Socioeconomic vulnerability, climate change and sea level increase in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.65, pp.179-203. Epub 06-Mayo-2021. Socioeconomic vulnerability is a priority issue due to the effects of climate change and the increase in entropy of different climatic factors, which is linked to the rise in disasters and has implications on the sustainable development of coastal municipalities. The objective was to show the socioeconomic impacts that Matamoros, Tamaulipas, may suffer under the scenario of a sudden five-meter increase in sea level. The methodological matrix consisted of territorializing and qualifying vulnerable groups. Results show that if Matamoros suffered a flood of five meters above sea level, more than half of its territory would be flooded.
