PAZZI, Bruno; ROJAS, Mara Leticia y LONDON, Silvia. Socially constructed environmental uncertainty: a study in Bahía Blanca’s estuary. Econ. soc. territ [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.70, pp.1013-1038. Epub 14-Nov-2022. ISSN 2448-6183. https://doi.org/10.22136/est20221717.
The study analyzes the social representations and practices around environmental issues in General Daniel Cerri, Ingeniero White, Villa del Mar, Pehuen-Có, and Monte Hermoso, urban centers in the southwest of the Province of Buenos Aires. Some concepts of Environmental Sociology are used. The research is based on fieldwork carried out through surveys that made it possible to detect: the existence of environmental suffering and “toxic confusion” generated by uncertainty about the sources and effects of pollution; and observe that these representations are not associated with greater participation in pro-environmental activities or movements.
