This paper places adoption within current theoretical discussions in anthropology of kinship. I consider some social changes and their impact in social theory like feminism. Adoption is a good reference point for thinking about the conceptions of family, the limits between nature and culture, the stereotypes of motherhood and the national and international commodification of children.
