DURIN, Séverine. Displaced by War: families of Northeastern Mexico in Exile. Desacatos [online]. 2012, n.38, pp.29-42. ISSN 2448-5144.
Population displacement, forced migration, exodus and exile are new realities of the inhabitants of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon states since the war waged by the mexican federal government against drug trafficking and organized crime in 2006, and the bloody struggle between the cartels for control of routes, territories and markets. Geographical proximity and historical ties with the state of Texas have placed it as the main place of refuge for the displaced norestenses. Based on a review diaries, we present a chronology of the exodus in the Northeast since 2009, initiated by families with higher economic capital -"gold migrants"-, which steps were followed by others displaced because of widespread violence."Refugees","displaced" and "exiles" are the new faces of the victims of this war: people whose existence and rights not yet recognized the Mexican government nor the international agencies and not the United States.
