Resumen
STRICKLAND, Rebecca Danielle. Street Populations: from Welfare to Repression. Desacatos [online]. 2012, n.38, pp.105-120. ISSN 2448-5144.
Neoliberal globalization has produced diverse populations of people who survive off the streets. Non-governmental organizations and government agencies offer a wide variety of social aid, as well as preventive and correctional projects to address this problematic reality. Nevertheless, millions of people continue working and living on the streets in cities throughout Latin America. Projects based in social pedagogy offer an innovative alternative to develop critical consciousness among street populations, a fundamental step for achieving social movement.
