Resumen
MUNOZ CRUZ, Héctor. The Role of Diversity in Intercultural Educational Reform. REDIE [online]. 2002, vol.4, n.2, pp.01-22. ISSN 1607-4041.
The study analyses the implications of contemporary linguistic and cultural diversity on educational theory from three different perspectives: the intercultural bilingual education proposals; the demographical view in relation to language distribution and functionality; and from the framework of intercultural and linguistic conflict. Multicultural factors and inequality have had great impact on the sociopolitical platforms of national and ethnic global projects, transforming diversity and multidirectionality into fascinating but conflicting disclosures. Slowly, these notions are providing support to a citizenship parameter for the society of the near future, when new national problems will arise and new solutions, charged with participation and democratic meaning, will have to be devised. The article states that the phenomena of interculture, bilinguism and ethnodiversity are setting new parameters to discuss educational reform.
