Resumen

ZARZOSA ESCOBEDO, Luis; LUNA PEREZ, David; DE PARRES FONG, Tania  y  GUARNEROS REYES, Esperanza. Effectiveness of an Interface for Strategic Reading on University Students. An Exploratory Research. REDIE [online]. 2007, vol.9, n.2, pp.1-20. ISSN 1607-4041.

A computer interface for training university students in reading comprehension is presented. The objective of the program is to aid students to comprehend expositive-argumentative texts. A text is divided in several sections, each of them is presented in a work screen, and in other small window several questions are presented. The reader must read them and select a solution among several choices and then a feedback screen is presented. Two experiments were carried out to prove the program's effectiveness. The first one compared 50 students' performance in two successive but equivalent lessons. In the second one, the 18 student's final score after four lessons, was compared against the performance of 15 students in the same single lesson. There were statistically significant differences in both experiments that support the training effectiveness. The population sample in the second experiment and the effect of few lessons are discussed in relation to the outcomes.
