The central objective of this research is to examine the new dimension that the Fourth Transformation (4T), the thought of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), has provided to the relationship between religion and politics, the couple always in conflict in Mexico but who In recent history they have reached an interpretative synthesis, a political reconfiguration and an appropriation of the religious phenomenon, which has allowed us to formulate the following hypotheses:1) on the one hand,the religious element expressed in social Catholicism has been assumed for AMLO’s speech and has directed it against economic conservatism, the object of his criticism; 2) AMLO’s religious discourse would seem to place it within a social, liberationist Catholicism, or a Christian populism; however, it should be noted that we are facing a“political religion” and the religious phenomenon serves him in his formulation.
