Resumen

BRICENO ALCARAZ, Gloria. Ser estudiante en la sociedad de la información y el conocimiento: la escuela y sus actores ante el cambio cultural. Sinéctica [online]. 2012, n.38, pp.1-19. ISSN 2007-7033.

This paper will discuss some scenarios of knowledge society which impact on the structural conditions of education and school, focusing on the role of young students as agents of cultural change. The theoretical framework is constituted by the assumptions of Beck, Giddens and Lash (1977) that refer to a new social form, where the transformation of industrial society and traditional structure take place and produce individualization processes that give place to new subjectivities, which are characteristic of "reflexive modernity". Under the sign of individualization, school faces the challenge of creating new meanings for young people. This paper therefore aims to explore these assumptions and clarify how the school contributes to the individualization process of high school students: how do they describes themselves, how they present to others and how they shape their own projects, this are some elements that are rescued as valuable to account for such a process. For this purpose were taken up fragments of interviews with a group of high school students from Jalisco, México (urban and semi-urban context) derived from a broader study.

Palabras llave : individualization; high school; youth; knowledge society.
