This article presents a way to understand university teaching which considers the interrelationships between teacher's thoughts, beliefs and actions under the concept of practical professional knowledge. This is the results of a research focused on understanding the participation of teachers in a curricular reform within a Higher Education context. As an outcome, four dimensions were identified in this practical professional knowledge which have outlined specific teacher's continuing professional development as reflective practitioners.
