The National Repository of Oral Materials is an electronic database and a series of interfaces for capturing and consulting information online. In this work the antecedents of the Repository will be approached with the theoretical and practical discussions that allowed its elaboration. A brief review of its development will also be presented, and some aspects related to its functionality will be discussed.
