Resumen

MORENO ROMO, Juan Carlos. The spiritual background of ours rationalisms: Or about the precise point where a Lutheran form of modernity differs from a genuinely Cartesian one. Sig. Fil [online]. 2011, vol.13, n.26, pp.115-131. ISSN 1665-1324.

If to a certain philosophical-ideological doxa currently promoted, it seems valid to characterize the entire Western Civilization as the rationalist civilization rooted in the scientific, philosophic and even political revolution that Descartes represents better than anyone, a little exploration into the analysis reveals that there is not one, but rather two rationalisms (fideism in the background and another that really accepts reason). Furthermore, this ambiguity regarding the self-understanding of what we are as a Modern Civilization corresponds exactly to a crucial ambiguity in the interpretation, and the recuperation of the philosophy of the Father of Modernity.

Palabras llave : religious spirit; Enlightenment; philosophy of history; reason; faith.
