A part of an investigation regarding the position value and its didactics is presented. A study was designed to explore the didactic potential of a relation-structure approach to positional value. The research was made by means of the application of a course. This enabled the student to attend the relations between components of positional value structure. The didactic application was made in two groups of 3rd. of elementary school. In one of them the location of the units of each order of magnitude in the space arranged in the work sheet with adjacent fields was used. In the other group the representation of the units in the abacus was used. The research purpose is to present effects of the didactic course respect. To the meaning that the students give to the relations attended to each order of magnitude. This is necessary for students to evoke and understand these relationships.
